Bend TestingDfR Solutions offers cyclic bend testing. The cyclic bend test supports a populated PCB at two points. The PCB is then pressed down by two “anvils” that flex the PCB by a predetermined amount. The chips on the board are monitored and any failure in board-to-package connection is noted. The cyclic bend test is an excellent method of testing the reliability of the PCB. This method is most applicable during subsequent manufacturing steps and during lifetime use in certain applications such as mobile devices where repeated button pressing is expected. Typically, the test is performed according to JEDEC standard JESD22-B113, which is the accepted test method for the electronics industry. Some customers may need to test to a different standard or a different test setup and we can perform that too. The standard test setup is a 132mm PCB on supports spaced 110mm apart and two load anvils spaced 75mm apart. Cycle frequency is typically 1-3 Hz and deflection is 2 to 4mm.
