Manufacturing Quality Engineer (part-time or full-time)

Manufacturing quality subject matter experts (SME) are needed to support the Department of Defense (DoD) in the area of systems engineering. This position will be onsite at government locations in the Washington, DC, area and will require a secret clearance. US Citizenship is required. Travel is required 25% to 50% of the time. Due to the varied domain expertise required, this will likely be multiple part-time positions; however, full-time will be considered for an individual possessing the appropriate skill set and experience.

The SME develops, modifies, applies and maintains manufacturing and quality guidance and policy applicable to DoD weapon systems; incorporates design for affordability concepts into the manufacturing process; collaborates with reliability and logistics organizations within the DoD to ensure manufacturing guidance supports the objectives of DoD Instruction 5000.02, Operation of the Defense Acquisition System; and conducts manufacturing status and risk evaluations at prime contractor locations throughout the acquisition lifecycle.

Required Education

Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline, ideally in industrial or systems engineering. Master of Science degree is a plus.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 20 years of work experience supporting the DoD in the areas of manufacturing, quality, systems engineering, and acquisition management.
  • Minimum of 10 years supporting a DoD Program Office with experience in managing manufacturing or quality assurance activities on the development, qualification testing, and production of DoD weapon system(s).

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated experience providing quality assurance/engineering support of DoD programs.
  • Experience with failure analysis and corrective action.
  • Experience developing policy, guidance, documentation, presentations along with ability to brief senior leadership within industry and the DoD.
  • Experience with AS9100/ISO9001-2008 Quality Management System.

Preferred Skills

  • Lean Six Sigma or equivalent quality assurance/quality control training/experience
  • CQM ASQ Certification, CQE ASQ Certification, CRE ASQ Certification.
  • Knowledge of total ownership cost elements, modeling and simulation for manufacturing, and the DoD Acquisition process.
  • Applied manufacturing and quality knowledge in multiple DoD Acquisition program domains (e.g., space, air, unmanned, land, sea)

Reliability Engineer

DfR Solutions is looking for full-time and part-time system engineers with 10+ years of DoD acquisition experience and a strong reliability and manufacturing background to work in the DC/MD area.
