About the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)

The IEC is one of the largest standardization bodies in the world of electronics, with a broad range of proscribed test methods. With certain IEC test methods not relevant to DfR’s particular expertise, and others a carbon copy of various IPC, JEDEC, and other industry standards, our specific focus is on IEC documents that address capacitor qualification and testing. These documents are within the 60384 series and include:

Standards

General

• IEC 60384-1, Fixed capacitors for use in electronic equipment — Part 1: Generic specification.
• IEC 60384-14, Fixed capacitors for use in electronic equipment — Part 14: Sectional specification: Fixed capacitors for electromagnetic interference suppression and connection to the supply mains.

Ceramic
