College Park, MD – November 17, 2008 – DfR Solutions, a leader in quality, reliability, and durability (QRD) solutions for the electronics industry, is proud to announce the hiring of Dr. Randy Schueller, an industry renowned expert in the fields of component packaging and Pb-free. DfR works with companies and individuals throughout the life cycle of a product, using Physics-of-Failure (PoF) and Best Practices expertise to provide crucial insights and solutions early in product design, development and test throughout manufacturing, and even into the field. In addition to adding his capabilities to the existing pool of DfR subject matter experts, Dr. Schueller will also be the head of the newly established Minneapolis office.
“Dr. Schueller is an excellent fit for our organization,” said Dr. Craig Hillman, DfR’s CEO & Managing Partner. “With the rapid and confusing proliferation of component packaging options, Randy provides amazing capability and insight based on his background which will help supplement our current expertise in stacked-die, system-in-package (SiP), and package-on-package (PoP) design and reliability assurance. Randy’s hand-on experience in the successful transition of Dell server products to Pb-free will also be extremely valuable to our customers in high reliability applications, such as industrial, telecom, military, avionics, and medical.”
Prior to joining DfR Solutions, Dr. Schueller held numerous management and leadership positions in component engineering, Pb-Free transition, and packaging at such companies as 3M and Extreme Devices (an Austin high tech start-up company), where he developed flex-based IC packages. In 2003, Randy began working at Dell where he was hired to assist in the transition to Pb-free. Randy’s activities rapidly expanded into audits of component manufacturers, contract board manufacturers, EMS providers, and management of Dell’s internal failure analysis facility. In this position, Randy assisted in resolving countless failures in IC packages, connectors, PWBs, and assembly issues. Randy currently holds 15 patents and has authored and presented over 30 papers within the electronics industry.
“I am very excited to join DfR Solutions as a member of the senior technical staff,” said Dr. Randy Schueller. DfR is an industry leader and fast growing company filled with many supremely talented individuals. I have spent my career resolving major material, component, and assembly issues for the electronics industry, and I am looking forward to becoming a valuable member of the DfR team.”
