In an independent study published in the International Journal on Mechanical Engineering and Robotics (IJMER), Sherlock was used by the authors to perform PCB simulation for various load conditions to determine the failure of components on PCBs. IJMER is a peer reviewed journal published by IRD India. In this paper, Determination of Mechanical Properties of PCB, the importance of material properties in PCB analysis was discussed and the effect of material property variation on PCB response was studied. The authors identified Sherlock’s unique capability to accurately predict the composite PCB properties through its internal laminate library and use of validated composite models. The researchers concluded that Sherlock was as or more accurate than equivalent simulation through Ansys.
