DfR Solutions, in collaboration with Ops a La Carte (San Jose, CA: April 19-23) and Value Engrafting, (Huntsville, AL: May 17-21) is proud to announce that the DfX training session is back! There was such a high demand for the course on the East Coast that we have decided to add Southern and West Coast locations. This one-of-a-kind collaborative effort will provide designers, reliability personnel, and engineering management with tools on how to meet time-to-market deadlines and reduce warranty issues. Areas to be covered include: Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Design for Reliability, Design for Manufacturability, and Design for Testability, just to name a few. DfR Welcomes Dr. Randy Kong as New Senior Technical Staff/Seattle Office Manager
DfR Solutions is proud to announce the hiring of Dr. Randy Kong, an industry renowned expert in the fields of process reliability qualification, component engineering, and meeting OEM reliability requirements. Prior to joining DfR Solutions, Dr. Kong was responsible for establishing a failure analysis lab through his work at Hewlett-Packard. Most recently at Microsoft, Randy co-founded the reliability engineering group for the hardware division, he led the development of a component engineering database which captured application-specific requirements for semiconductors, opto-electronics, and electro-mechanical components, and he established quality/reliability processes which emphasized DfX principals. Randy holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University and has a Ph.D. in Physics from the Graduate Center of City University of New York.

Dr. Craig Hillman Gives Keynote Address
Dr. Craig Hillman gave the Keynote Address at the Symposium on Defense and Aerospace Electronics which was held in Huntsville, Alabama, on September 16th. The conference, sponsored by University of Alabama Huntsville and Benchmark Electronics, was a very important two-day workshop covering the impact that lead-free has had, and will continue to have, on the manufacturing and reliability of military and aerospace electronics. DfR is Awarded Three Research Contracts
DfR Solutions has recently been awarded a number of significant research contracts in the field of electronics reliability. They include:

• Assessing the Quality of Reballed Parts

In response to increasing demand for our services in Texas and among consumer electronic OEMs and semiconductor manufacturers, DfR has opened a Texas office. Located in Austin, this office will allow for closer interaction with our customers. The office will be headed by Cheryl Tulkoff, who has extensive experience in semiconductor fabrication, electronics assembly, RoHS conversion, and reliability engineering and management.
